Whale Shark Safari

If you want to swim with incredible whale sharks in clear water, but without the crowds of Mexico, Australia and the Philippines, then this is the trip for you.

Djibouti is the best place on Earth to find reliable whale shark encounters, in clear water, but without a crowd. It is a photographer’s paradise.

In addition to great encounters, one of our goals will be to capture memorable photos and video of each guest and their whale shark encounter, for the ultimate memento.

Accommodation is at the 5-star Kempinski Hotel on the beautiful shores of the Gulf of Tadjoura. While not out swimming with whale sharks, we will enjoy one of the two swimming pools, incredible private beach and will also explore the city.

Lac Assal

In addition to amazing whale shark encounters, we will also visit Lac Assal, the world’s saltiest lake, and explore a wildlife rescue center that houses some amazing African animals.

Is it Safe??

Named one of the hottest destinations in 2015 by multiple outlets, including the UK’s Telegraph travel section, Djibouti is extremely safe.

Accommodation

By far the finest hotel in the region, the 5-star Kempinski offers elegance and convenience for us to relax and enjoy the time that we are not out with the whale sharks, exploring the city or bathing in Lac Assal.

Picture Adventure Expeditions

Picture Adventure hosts a very small number of guests on bold “expeditions of a lifetime”. Each Picture Adventure expedition is highly customized and often requires working in close partnership with top researchers to ensure that we are on the vanguard of what the natural world has to offer.

Joshua Barton, a professional photographer who has been published in over 40 publications from National Geographic to the Washington Post, will personally lead this expedition. Josh has been traveling to Djibouti since 2011 and is an expert in the region. One of Josh’s goals will be to capture memorable photos and video of the guests enjoying their unique adventure.
